Where Deadwood Became Famous...
On August 2, 1876, while playing poker at Nuttal & Mann’s Saloon No. 10 (currently the Lucky Nugget Gambling Hall), Wild Bill Hickok could not find an empty seat in the corner of the room, where he always sat in order to protect himself against a possible attack from behind.  Instead, he sat with his back to the door.  His paranoia was prescient:  he was shot in the back of the head with a .45-caliber revolver by a drunken stranger named Jack McCall.  A historic interpretive center is on display FREE and Open to the public.

The Lucky Nugget’s sordid past doesn’t stop there.  It was also known as the Red Light District – essentially, it has always been a place where you could get “lucky” in Deadwood  …unless of course, you’re Wild Bill.

In addition, the Lucky Nugget Gambling Hall has on display one of the largest model train exhibits around. Fun for all ages this exhibit will be sure to captivate everyone!
